Hailstory

Terms of use

Hailstory is a free information service. By using it you agree to these terms.

What the service is

Hailstory shows historical hail and tornado information for places in the United States. Hail figures are estimates that Hailstory derives from NOAA radar data. Tornado tracks and ground reports come from the Storm Prediction Center. See data sources and accuracy for how the figures are made and how well they agree with ground reports.

Radar estimates are not proof

Radar estimates are not proof that hail fell, or that any damage happened, at a place. They can read high or low and can miss storms. Do not use Hailstory for insurance claims, legal matters, or decisions about safety. For those, use a qualified inspector, your insurer, or an official source.

Provided as is

The service and everything on it is provided as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. That includes any warranty that the information is accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose, and any promise that the site will always be available.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Hailstory and the people who run it are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the service or relying on its information. This includes lost money, lost data, a denied claim, or any indirect or consequential loss.

Your use

Use the service lawfully and do not try to disrupt it. Address lists are for your own use. We may limit or change the service, including the size of address lists, at any time.

We may update these terms. The version on this page is the current one.
